Since I have made this I have watch it slowly dry off

18.12.12
When doing my artist research I came across a artist in Craft international magazine Andi Wolfe who work reminded me of my work here. Andi works in wood and had created these Autumn leafs  vessels  which has bright red Autumn colours

Henri Fantin-Latour
 (1836 -1904)

When I also went to Cardiff museum and I view this paint the first thing I notice was what the winged figure was holding which looked like my my leaf sculpture hanging..

Untensal change of idea

With doing so much eching this week on diffrent matreial such as:
  • plastic
  • Wood
  • Mirrors
and view over test bit Ian had done. I notic with plastic that had been ech or cut that when the light refects off it how it creates these amazing pattern like effects.

Today I carryed on with eching on glass, Ian sugguested about eching on to a mirror.
I used one of my photos I eched on wood and the out come was compley diffrent.

What he suggested was to lay sticky plastic on the back of the mirrow and ech  on to that side.
It took 15 minits. The effect on that side was quite amazing it self. It had a rusty effect.
I then sand blasted the back of that and I had no idea of the effect I was going to get mirro side had become transprant so light shine throw when you hold it up to the light.

This has led me to look at the now of artist who work with sand blasting glass.

Earth on Fire by Berhard Edmaier

Christian showed me a book he got out of the library which he thought i would like called Earth and Fire..

It was photography on volcano which really was some amazing pictures. Its amazing how close photographers must get.

(Earth on Fire,Berhard  Edmaier)
This image on page 46 reminded me right away of a macro photo I took of a peace of really awful welding

                                       My own image 2012
The weld got to hot in one spot and burnt its way throw the metal which created these creators. This image of myn has always reminded me of a aerial photographer and it very similar to the above photo because molten lava has created those hole just like molten metal created these

Etching

Today I wanted to put essay and untensal aside as I feel as i have come back to a brick wall with both and their not way around or over.

I choose to try and reflect on some of my photos I took in Hereford cathedral. I jsut wanted to get it simple so I choose to have ago on the etching machine and create my images on wood.

I m very conformable with getting the images set up on the machine now but still need promting on the printing setting.

I choose this, i think this the image I want to look at for my DVL new project. I think alot of my images are on the vaulted ceiling. I just can image how this was ever made
.To ech i needed to turn the images black and white if you invert the black & white image you get a the negtive so I did both. I feel after I had that the above image had acty come out best because it had less black but on screen the image with more black looks more applying in my view

Like my last where i mirrowed I choose to mirro this and see how it appears. By doing this mirrowing you can create new shapes. I quite like it symical but some people find it to mathical.

Compared to the last mirror image i did this is more or a panoramic photo where the last one became more pattern

EXM TEC

ECHING ON TO WOOOD

Images need to be black and white.
Use photoshop
  • Image,Adjustment,Invert
  • Image adjustment, black and white
  • Image Adjustment, Levels. Note here you control the how much black or white you want.
  • Image adjustment, Contrast (depenting on how you want it you can invert again

The Lazer eches anythink black
Last thing
  • Image mode, select grey scale (removes all colour

Set measurement to the matrail you are using.

If you want you image cut out you need to select a box around the image, how much shape you give pretween image will be the boarded.

When eching do not look at the lazer, you can get ack eye

Idea

    Inspiration from above image ^

I just had a idea of creating lot of pattern base on my cathedral photography and like the pattern i have just printed out on cotton is to print more out and speak to Karen from text styles and ask her how about going about showing them to clients and see if i can make any money off them. I feel making these patterns very easy and I have had a great reaction from people so feel it worth a try.

I was drawn to this image I took from a vintage tractor, I was drawn to the the forms of this engine,
Their alot going and I want to know what would happen if i mirror the image and created a repeated pattern like the above at the top ^^^^

Would it have the same reaction as the above image had?
What would it look like on cotton?

That has completely change the effect of the engine.
It makes me of looking Google earth over factory s or big railway stations.

(London padding tone  station google earth )

Reminds me of a spine
The center part running up. like a spinecore.
What will it look like if I create big peace?

Its hard what to think now about it. It some way i like it but conpair to the top image its not as beuiful. My eye dont get lost like in the top image.
I attend to ask other thoughts

This reminds me of a pattern I did on my access course which I did think about but they never had the advice like they do here about going along with that.

EXM

I have learn a new tool today on google sketch up
The tool is call follow me which seems work as you creat a 2d shape and you can use this tool to tranform the shape into a 3d ojbect but it follows where ever you click. I feel this will push my design on sketch up to be less blocky or advance them more.

Project

I visited to Kathryn Roberts who is a Glass blower gallery today.
She wasn't in but her husbern was.

He invited to have a tour around the work shop and to my amazement there was a cruzabale in action metaling down glass. This is good sample for my project
Is melts the glass down to a liquicd and then transported by iron rods
So unlike the cruzables i been looking at which tip this one you just open the door. So I should now get this in my book and see what could from this.

Because ideas are now flying around my mind
Create a machine that freeze ice/ like a freeze but freeze water to the shape of the cruzable.

I just had a idea of a fanstay untenal which is a forging kid to forge metal with the heat of the sun.

DVL Brecon

When  I was in brecon I went to see the cathedral. It was very diffrent from any over one I have been to, it really felt like a church but the ceiling was really hight.
When looking up at the ceiling it reminded me of the ship hull  and when thinking about it then reminded me of a bridge designer Miquell Llorens.

So I ask myself what if I take the these shape I drawen and flip and roated to see how they fit together. So I came up with the idea of using the form of these ceiling beams that they could from these arch ways.

When I looked up at the stone arch ways the idea came that they was to plain but what would it look like IF tiles way play on them from the floor to having to look up and you see these tiles and the floor just be plain old stone. I would think for me that would work as I m always looking up in churches and cathredals.
(Tyring out my drawing tablet)

(this would be very hard to recreate in google sketch up with free verson)
What if i make it more straight?
This dose not work well being so straight

Culture Studies eassy

I have made a start on putting together my information on my two artist Pak sheung chuen and Yael Bartana.  Evern thoes I have been gathring research I think maybe I hvae choose artist who are to diffculte to write about. Its only a 1.500 word eassy but this is really my weakess subject.

.I think I have enought research on Pak but alot of it has come from the intenet. I have been able to find information in jourals and his blog and News papers.
Also artical on a man from the gaurdiern who has acty seen the peace of work I m talking about
so I can compare his thoguhts with my own on the work.

I just want to get as much done as possible this week as I wont have learning support at all for 4 or so weeks.

Christmas couldnt come at a worse time.

DVL Responding

This image I took, i was drawn to the not only its structor cuvers but to the pale colour with that blue line running up the side.

I wanted to see what would happern if I copy that image one photoshop and flip in horzsotaly and join them together rapity.

I found out by joing four together I had created my own structor,

So i thought about creating a more repetive patter to see how it would look and the out come has was like one of the images you stair at for along time and the

image starts to move the longer you look at it.

Happy with that I want to see how it will look printed on to fabric.

It has made made me think of scorfts my nan would wear.

Not wool ones but grant silk ones.

I had this pattern printed out on to cotton using the printer in the textstlyes room ^^^^
Karren sugguested to use cotton.  The image was loaded up on photoshop and then after we messured down to the right size 24 cm by 20 cm wide. All the detial has come out really well and I the contiuess thought of creating small pillows, etc.

She also sugguested about screen printing the image, I would have to edited this image into black and white with no grey at all and then print on asatate which is used to be exposed to UV light.

 Photoshop
  • Inverted image
  • black & white
  • Levels to darken more
brigthness
and contrass

this is process to creating black and white.

Rich sugguested that I could highlight diffrent areas to keep make possitive shapes and lazer cut it.
and by doing this I could take a form that was 3d which i create into a 2d image on fabric and then doing this I m bringing it into a 3d image again which i think is a good idea.

I feel alot of my photography of Hereford cathradale is draw to the complex forms of the structors.

What is it I like about these images?
  • How when you look at somthink like this you see somthink diffrent.
  • The steps when looking up horzortorly
  • Stone pillas which look like stone pipes
  • These amazing ceiling that make me feel when laying on the floor to take these ceiling images as if i was stairing up at the stars. Just kept noticing diffrent thing all the time.

DVL Starting the Scoll/ drawing for research

With having started my scroll I been very intrested with what others may think and I got the chance to show Cela and Maggy todoay on DVL. It was good feed back
I got and it was a good start for our new breif (What are Ideas and What is Research)
The images we have collected will play their roll in this project.
Ask myself
.That is a intresting idea?
.I wonder if?
. What research do I need to find out?
.Where can I find the information?
Who can I ask- what can i read?
I feel the scroll is a good idea and a diffrent way to  store ideas.
Its not new way i guest because its quite midevil and I like that idea of it.
