Small metal forging Friday, 7 December 2012, 08:07 PM

Having had a go at shaping metals with Rich at h.e i took this lesson to have a go at giving metal different effects.
Give copper a rainbow effect by slowly heating it and letting it cool down naturally.
Another one was speeding up coppers rusting process by adding acid to it.
( I have left this peace with what looks like green mold outside to speed the process up evern more.

(1) I think I m more drawen to the flame rather than what I was doing in this image. I find flames can give you such amazing shapes that you would never ever get again.
This cemical speeds up the rusting prosscess of the metal. Evern after firing it still rubs off but ian said to speed up the process you can leave it outside, so that is what i have done.

(3) This peace of metal i was trying to give it a rainbow effect which is created by just slighty going over the metal  every so quicky and waiting and again. The colours start to show but importan not to put it under water but to leave to cool down naturaly.

I just love this colours and reminds me of oil on a wet road
